The MONSU Crew is your volunteering program at Monash University Caulfield! We offer students the opportunity to become engaged members of the Monash Caulfield community while helping you build your resume, further your professional skill set and meet fellow students while taking a break from your studies!

There are plenty of ways to get involved, with volunteer opportunities spanning across many portfolios including events, education, overseas student services, women’s, queer, people of colour and more!

How does it work?

Listed further down this page are all the available Crew teams we will be running in 2024! Each team works closely with our Student Representatives, who have each been democratically elected into their positions to represent these portfolios, as well as MONSU Caulfield professional staff.

Have a read through the roles and responsibilities of each Crew to find what you’re interested in. After this, you can apply via the link below!

Committed MONSU Crew will be officially thanked and recognised for their time and efforts at the end of each semester.

MONSU CREW ROLES

 

Events Crew

The Events Crew help support the Activities Officers in organising and delivering all MONSU activities and events to the students of Monash Caulfield. This includes major on-campus events, smaller activities and online events such as:

  • Free Food Events like Midweek Meet and Breakfast Club 

  • O-Fest and Orientation Week activities

  • Safe n' Sexy Week Events 

  • After Exams Party 

  • And more!

As an Events Crew member, you will help create memorable experiences for students at Caulfield, as well as yourselves, while having a lot of fun and meeting new lifelong friends. 

 

Education Crew

The Education Crew is responsible for representing students academic needs to the Education Officer, who can then table these issues to people within the University. Education Crew also take part in running several key events throughout the year, including:

  • Education-based Campaigns

  • Census Week

  • Free Food Handouts

The Education Crew needs a diverse and collaborative team to ensure MONSU Caulfield is best representing the needs of all students under our care.

 

Overseas Student Services (OSS) Crew 

The OSS Crew are responsible for representing the needs and concerns of all Caulfield International students to the OSS Officer, who can then bring these forward to MONSU Caulfield and the University. OSS Crew have the opportunity to work closely with the OSS Officer and cultural clubs to run events and initiatives such as:

  • Migration Seminars 

  • Campaigns around issues affecting International Students 

  • Collaboration with other Crew roles

  • Cultural Events

The OSS Officer needs passionate Crew members to represent the voice of our international cohort at Caulfield campus.

 

Welfare Crew

The Welfare Crew work closely with the Education Crew offering a holistic approach to the wellbeing of every student. Crew members will be required to assist with key events such as:

  • Breakfast Club - Weekly Free Breakfast

  • Food For Thought 

  • Stress Less Week

  • RUOK? Day

Alongside the Welfare Office, you’ll be committed to easing those non-academic struggles that students may face on a daily basis. We are looking for Crew members with a passion to help others.

 

Women’s Crew

The Women’s Crew work alongside the Women’s Officer, who is here to help foster a safe and inclusive environment on campus, that empowers women and acts as an advocate for their voices, rights and identities. 

The Women’s Crew are involved in events and initiatives such as:

  • Safe n’ Sexy Week

  • Campaigning on behalf of women around equity, equality, discrimination and health

  • Raising awareness of issues around gender equality 

  • Contributing and running of the MONSU Women’s Instagram account

  • Supporting events from other portfolios

Women’s Crew members are enthusiastic about creating an inclusive and welcoming community for everyone on campus.

 

Queer Crew 

The Queer Crew are responsible for making queer-identifying and questioning students feel comfortable on campus and feel a part of the MONSU Queer community. The Queer Crew have a role in organising and running events and initiatives such as:

  • Queer Beers and Morning Teas

  • This is Me Campaign

  • Safe n' Sexy Week 

  • IDAHOBIT Day 

  • Queer Lounge

Working closely with the Queer Officers, the Queer Crew helps represent the needs of Queer Students to MONSU and the University. 

 

MONSU.GREEN Crew

The MONSU.GREEN Crew recognises the impact of climate change and has a passion for adopting sustainability practices to improve the health of the planet, people, animals and plants. The MONSU.GREEN Crew works closely with all Reps and the MONSU.GREEN Team to offer a holistic approach to sustainability.

 

Crew members will be required to assist with:

  • Managing the waste management station on level 2

  • Developing and running significant programs/activities such as Earth Day 

  • Managing sustainability practices at free food events

  • Spreading the ‘sustainability message’ to MONSU students

  • Completing actions in the Monash Green Impact program

MONSU.GREEN Crew needs forward thinkers, and passionate students willing to educate and implement change at Caulfield Campus. 

 

 

People of Colour (PoC) Crew

The People of Colour Crew will work alongside our PoC Officer, to ensure students of all backgrounds are supported, represented and advocated for at the Caulfield Campus. This is a new crew as of 2022, so we are seeking innovative volunteers to help initiate and landmark this crew for the future!

The PoC Crew are involved in events and initiatives such as:

  • Culture Festival

  • Raising awareness for PoC issues on campus

  • Advocating for and supporting PoC students at Caulfield

  • Initiating and providing support to the PoC officer's programs and initiatives

PoC Crew will be passionate about creating an inclusive and representative student community and leading diversity at the Caulfield Campus.

 

Tax Help Crew

The Tax Help Crew will run MONSU Caulfield's Tax Help Program from 24th July to 31st October, from our Tax Help Hub.

Tax Help Crew receive free ATO accreditated training, will gain real-life experience, valuable upskilling and the opportunity to provide Caulfield students with free and confidential advice on completing their tax return. Tax Help Crew will be allocated appointments from July to October, depending on their availability and demand.

 

Tax Help Crew must meet the following requirements:

  • are at least 18 years old

  • have lived in Australia permanently for last 2 years

 

Tax Help is a long-standing and successful program at the Caulfield campus, and all Tax Help Crew will be a part of continuing the tradition.
