NAB Bright New Talent Award
The Bright New Talent Award is for an individual who has brought new energy, experiences and motivation to MONSU along with a desirable skill set. All the nominees for this award are the future of MONSU. This award is sponsored by NAB.
The winner is: Rod Evans, Sexuality Officer of MONSU Peninsula
"Rod Evans has thrown himself into the world of uni life with enthusiasm, creativity, and remarkable good will. Just in his first year, he has put his hand up to represent MONSU Peninsula at a national student conference; he has resurrected the Queer Collective on campus and has stepped up to organise Sexual Health Week and Sex It Up simply because he was needed to do so. Rod is confident and assertive, whilst remaining consultative and respectful. He is the ultimate team player - able to recognise the needs of the group, and to lead the group to meet those needs, together. You can expect to see great things from Rod in the years to come."
"Rod, has taken up the challenge of SEX IT UP Coordinator within the Queer portfolio very well. He has shown great communication, team work and organisation skills. Rod has been really consultative and energetic when working on projects at MONSU Peninsula, and really stood up to the challenge MC-ing at MONSU Comedy evening. Rod brings a great new element to MONSU Peninsula, through his network on Residence and Queer Network. I look forward to working with Rod in the future."
"Since being appointed at the end of semester 1, Rod has raised the profile of the sexuality officer role at MONSU Peninsula. He has been very pro-active in raising awareness of not only MONSU issues, but issues important to students. He has also attended the NUS forum in Tasmania."
"As the new Sexuality Rep, I feel Rod has been fantastic and extremely enthusiastic in his role."
"Very dedicated and a breath of fresh air, always willing to help."
"Rod has been a wonderful addition to the Peninsula family. He is like a breath of fresh air. He has encouraged the other reps to think outside the box and push their boundaries."
